Wedding Style Profile - Huyen and Jason
Dec 07, 2011

Before we dedicate the next couple of weeks to our summer weddings, I knew I would make the time to share this blog post with all of you. Seeing these images again just puts a smile on my face. You need only know how Jason proposed to his sweetheart Huyen to realise how much she means to him. Lucky for us, we had Pete of Living Lens to not only capture the cherished moments of their wedding day, but over the next few days artistically document the couple’s love story on film - starting from where it all began. I’ll be sure to share the video once it’s ready, as well as beautiful natural light photographs by Nattnee Photography!

One of my foremost favourite gardens in Melbourne is Como Historic House and Gardens. What’s not to love? The garden exudes glamour and romance, from the grandeur of the house in the background, to the soothing sounds of the working water fountain. I’m not at all surprised that Huyen and Jason too fell head over heels with Como straight away, and decided it was here they shall be bethrothed!

You wouldn’t believe it if we told you, but the moving clouds and scattered rain that had us at the edge of our seats (and moving things to and from shelter) quite literally stopped the moment the gates opened for Huyen’s bridal car. It was that amazing.
For the entire ceremony we had a beautiful blue sky above us, as Jason and Huyen exchanged vows and rings in a warm and heartfelt ceremony conducted by Maree Livy.

We created a fun, garden-themed Drinks Station for 50 of their guests to enjoy after the ceremony - it was so much fun to put together! We made food tags that read ‘Today feels like cherry heaven {slice}’ and ‘Babe, you lolli-pop my world’ and a very delicious and refreshing urn of iced lemon tea infused with sliced grapefruit, lemons and mint leaves.
Needless to say there were no leftovers!

Another reason why this wedding has a special place with me is because I was also invited as a guest to Huyen and Jason’s wedding reception! I was thrilled to accept their invitation (immaculately handmade with love, I should add!) to celebrate into the night with family and friends, watch them take their first dance as the new Mr and Mrs, and savour a sumptuous 9-course dinner! Huyen and Jason, thank you for letting me share in this journey with you that is only just beginning.
I wish you both the most beautiful of days, and hearing stories of exotic locations Jason has promised to take Huyen each year on their wedding anniversary! Joanie xox Images by Gavin Luu for One Wedding Wish
